Christmas Canister...

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

It is a gorgeous day here at the Hunt household!  This is one of my most favorite holidays.  We had our big family celebration yesterday.  I spent the morning in the kitchen working on dinner for the gathering.  Then by mid afternoon our house was packed with family and we were laughing and filling ourselves with good food.  It was a wonderful evening!  Today, my parents will be back over again and we'll exchange gifts with them.  We also have a house guest for the holiday as my hubby's teenage grandson is staying with us for a week.  He's 6' 3" and sweet as can be.  He has never come for a visit like this before but it's really nice to have him here.

I got to spend a little time in my studio before the holiday.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to make, but I really wanted to color up another of the new CandiBean stamps.  Since I was coloring on the first day of winter, and since winter is in full swing here in Michigan, I grabbed the adorable 'Izzy's Snowy Umbrella' and got to work.  I got the image all colored up and then went on a search for something to alter, since I wasn't in the mood to make a card.  I found this little canister and thought it would be adorable for storing some of my craft items.

I just happened to color the image in colors that coordinate perfectly with the LDRS Frigid Fun 6x6 paper pack.  So I grabbed a pack of it and started covering the canister.  I really love these papers!  They are not only perfect for Christmas stuff, but they can be used all through the winter season....and that's pretty long where I live!!!   All of the lace trim and embellies were already in my stash.  I've got a few pics below so you can see the different views and all of the detail.

Thank you for stopping by today!  I wish you all the most magical of days!!!

Winter Walkies...

Hello Everyone!

I made a card with one of the new CandiBean images so I thought I would take a turn and try to inspire you in some way :-)  I am LOVING this new collection!  Each time I color one up, I can't wait to get to the next!  In fact, I just finished this card and I already have another image 1/2 colored!

We are gearing up for a harsh winter here in Michigan.  The temps have dropped considerably and we're just waiting for the first big snowfall.  So the winter themed images in this CandiBean collection are so spot on perfect right now!

I chose to color up 'Penny's Winter Walkies' because I am a HUGE dog lover.  She is just darling out in a beautiful snowfall with her three little pups!  I used the Petals & Lace 6x6 papers for the gorgeous backdrop.  I am loving these papers for creating chilly winter cards.  They are stunning!!!

Thank you so much for joining me today!  I hope I inspired you to start crafting some winter projects!!!

Hugs to you all,

Angie

CandiBean Blog Hop!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

It has been just a little while since I've posted a new project ;-)  Where have I been?  Well, we've been busy getting settled into our new house and getting used to things.  It's soooooo nice to be closer to friends, work and our son's school.  The drive time to school dropped from 45 minutes to just 5 minutes AND I'M LOVING IT!  I've filled the gas tank 3 times since we moved in mid September and I used to fill it at least once per week!  With fuel prices the way they are, it sure is a HUGE savings!

Enough about all that, let's get to the reason you're here!...

I sure hope you're having a great day and enjoying the CandiBean Blog Hop!  This is the last stop on the Hop!  If you've arrived from Ruby's blog then you're on the right track.  If not, then you can start from the beginning at the LDRS DT Inspirations Blog.

The LDRS DT has absolutely outdone themselves!  I hope my project keeps up with them.  It's been a while since I've painted anything!  Yikes!  I decided to work with the adorable Penny's Presents from the new CandiBean collection.  This stamp, as well as the others, will be available at Little Darlings Rubber Stamps on November 25th!!!  This collection is so amazingly adorable!  I had soooo much fun coloring this image and I cannot wait to work on the rest :-)

Penny's Presents

Now honestly....could she BE any cuter???  Just look at that little face!  And she's exchanging gifts with that little bear that's all propped up those presents.  Too sweet!

I paired her with my favorite papers from the LDRS 6x6 Petals & Lace paper pack.  These papers are so gorgeous and I never get tired of seeing projects with them.  We're running a little low on inventory so you may want to hurry and grab a pack before they're gone!

I also used the coordinating Vintage Stamp Set to stamp some second generation images around 'Penny's Presents' for some added interest and visual texture.

I love taking these angled shots so you can see the dimension in the embellies.  This card has a ton!  I almost forgot how much these things weigh when they're done!  LOL!!!

Anyway... in case you didn't already know, LDRS is giving away an entire set of this new CandiBean collection to one lucky winner.  Be sure to head on back to the LDRS DT Inspirations Blog to enter to win!  You'll be all set in just a few short steps :-)

Thank you to the AMAZING LDRS Design Team for a fabulous Blog Hop!!!  And thank you all so very much for stopping by!  I would love it if you would leave me a little note to let me know you were here :-)

Hugs to you all,

Angie

Genie...

Hey Everyone!

Just a quick post from me today.  I found these images of a project that I made for the Ideal World 'Create & Craft' television show a few months back.  I don't think I ever posted them, so here they are!

This is Saturated Canary's 'Genie'.  I've paired her up with the LDRS 'Fruit Basket' paper collection.  The rest of the items on this project were literally scattered around my craft studio just waiting to be used.  I think they found a good home!  :-)

Today is moving day for us so I've gotta run right away.  Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a looksie at my project.  Please feel free to leave a little note to let me know that you were here.  It's always nice to know if someone enjoys my work :-)

Thanks Everyone!

Let It Snow...

Hello Everyone!

I'm back with another project that I made for CHA last month.  This project is full of items from our CHA collections, which will be available in early September.

Karina Rose created the most fabulous 6x6 Winter papers and we've titled the collection pack:
Frigid Fun.

This paper collection has the most adorable... most chilly... most fun winter patterns that I've seen in a really long time!  The colors are crisp and cool and just make you feel like you need to wrap yourself in a warm blanket by the fire.  I used this paper pack as the back drop in my project and it is just STUNNING!!!

So here is my project...  It is a perfect 8x8 card front that will find itself in a frame on my desk as winter draws nearer here in Michigan.  The project details are below...

Let It Snow

I don't know about you, but I LOVE SNOWMEN!!!  I have sooooooooo many snowmen stamps in my collection but I always want more.  So I'm super duper excited about this Little Darlings 'Caroling Trio' stamp.  I don't think these guys could be any happier or any cuter!  They just look so doggone happy!  Doesn't it make you want to join in and sing with them?

Now how about that paper?  My favorite pattern is the snow covered trees in blue/white.  It was the inspiration piece for the entire 'Frigid Fun' paper collection.  Behind the snowmen is the cutest pattern of snow boots and mittens that remind me of my childhood when dressing to play outside in the snow.  Brrrrrr....

We also have a coordinating stamp set titled 'Frigid Fun' that showcases many of the pieces in the paper collection.  I used several items from this stamp set on my project:  the Winter Days calendar was stamped, cut out and backed with a matt that I made from the 'Frigid Fun' papers; the 'Let It Snow' sentiment was stamped and punched with a paper punch; and the snowy background behind the snowmen was also stamped from the same set.  Check out the rest of the stamps in the set below:

Thank you all for visiting me today.  I truly enjoyed sharing my 'Frigid Fun' project with you.  I hope I've inspired you in some way :-)

Hugs to you all,

Angie

New Collections Preview......

Welcome Everyone!

I'm back with a new project to show you. I made this card with one of the upcoming rubber stamps from the new Saturated Canary collection that was debuted at CHA last month.

This adorable little toddler is called 'Butterfly Baby' and she will be available to you in rubber in just a few more weeks.  We've had some discussion behind the scenes about whether or not this toddler is a boy or a girl.  I obviously saw her as a 'girl' since I colored her in pink.  But I can certainly see how she could be a 'he' if colored in a more masculine color.  I guess you'll just have to decide for yourself when you begin your project with this little sweetie!

I painted 'Butterfly Baby' with distress inks, which felt really good since it's been a while :-)  Both the sentiment and swirls are from the new and upcoming Warm Fuzzy sentiment set titled 'Everyday Sentiments'.  Now, I know I appear biased, but I REALLY LOVE THE LDRS SENTIMENT SETS!!!!!  The sayings are unique and with funky and fun fonts.  And, we've added these really cool little 'doodles' that you can stamp ALL OVER your project to add extra tidbits of texture and interest.  I did second-generation stamping of the swirl from the 'Everyday Sentiments' set all around the image.  Before adding it, the edges were a bit plain and uninteresting.  Once I added the swirls, they softened the edges and made the image POP!  The sweet and simple sentiment is from the same set and was just perfect for this card.

Do you like the patterned papers???  THEY ARE NEW TOO!  The collection is called 'Petals & Lace' and has 3 GORGEOUS color collections, each with its own vintage patterns to coordinate together.  I used a combo of one shabby pink and one soft grey and they're SO BEAUTIFUL TOGETHER!!!  If you like vintage and shabby chic, then you will ABSOLUTELY NEED THIS PAPER PACK!  It will be available in just a few weeks so stay tuned for our shipping announcement!  Be sure to check with your local or favorite store to see if they will be stocking it!

Well, that is it from me today!  I thoroughly enjoyed making this project and, even more so, showing it to you.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  I would love to hear your thoughts on our soon to be released collections!  We're sooooo excited about them!!!

Big hugs to you all!

Peanelope Journal...

Well, HELLO THERE!!!

I have absolutely failed miserably when it comes to keeping with my New Year's resolution of posting something here twice per month...sigh.  If only there were more hours in each day, right?

Where have I been?  Well, we've been selling our home, building a new one, preparing for CHA (I leave tomorrow morning for Las Vegas), getting all of our new releases ready, and prepping an all new rubber stamp collection - which will be unveiled at CHA on July 23rd.

So, I have a little something to show you that I made back in May when I visited the U.K. to do the Create & Craft television shows.  I used this project as a demo for one of the shows and finally got around to finishing it so I can show it to you completed.

This sweet image is Princess Peanelope from the Saturated Canary 'Fairytales & Fables' collection.  She's so versatile and adorable and I thought she would look great on this journal.  I'm thrilled with how it turned out!

I used the gorgeous LDRS Summer Sorbet 12x12 papers on this journal, covering both the front and back.  I also used them to make a little pocket on the inside cover, but there wasn't time for a pic.  You can purchase the Summer Sorbet collection packs at the LDRS online store for only $9.99.  That's a steal for 12 double-sided 12x12 designer papers dontcha think?

The sentiments on the tags are super cute and they're part of the Fairytale Sentiments set.  I just LOVE the new sentiments sets because, not only do they include really cute sayings, but they also include some really cool little 'doodles' that can be used to add visual texture to your projects.  I used one with swirls around the top of the image to fill in that space a bit. I added some bling over the top with Stickles.  The set that contains the swirl will be available after CHA.

That is it from me for now.  I will do my best to check in again during CHA.  Right now I need to go finish some laundry and get started on the packing!

Ciao!

Angie

Blog Hop!

Welcome to your last stop on the

Fairytales & Fables

Blog Hop!!!

This has been such an exciting day with the new Fairytales & Fables release.  I really hope you've enjoyed yourself on this Hop.  We all had so much fun bringing it to you and showing you wonderful ways to use the stamps in this collection.  This is the absolute BEST TEAM EVER!!!!!!

I decided to do a little project with Reading Beauty.  She fits perfectly on this little moleskin journal that I received as a gift from Claudia (thank you Claudia!!!).  This journal gave me the opportunity to color with Prisma pencils again...yay!  I hadn't done that in sooooo long so it was a challenge, but fun :-)  I think the hours passed like the snap of a finger while I was huddled over this project at my craft table.  I sure do love losing track of time while crafting :-)

Here's the final project.

I very simply stamped the image with Memento on the front of the journal and went to work coloring.  Reading Beauty has the most gorgeous hair and I really enjoyed working with the color to show the depth of the waves.  It was a ton of fun to play with the dark shadow and highlights.  It's also super cute that her hair is covering one eye as she peeks up from the book that she's reading.  Super cute!!!  I just love Krista's details.

I really wanted to incorporate the little doodle stamps from the Fairytales Sentiments set.  In this pic, you can see how I stamped a curly border all around the journal.  It's subtle, but makes it soooo much more interesting to look at.  These little doodles were designed to allow you to leave little bits of interest here and there on all of your projects.  You can use them as borders, stamp them on washi tape for a custom look, or just randomly apply them to give a little unexpected texture and interest to your project.  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!!.  You can see the detail in the pics below...

I placed a postage stamp in the upper right corner and distressed it a bit.  I added the 'xxxxxxxx' doodle at the very bottom of the stamp for just a little more visual texture.  It's just one more layer of visual interest!

Here you can see a close up of the curly border stamped around the edge.  That cute little arrow with the open hearts is also one of the doodle stamps in the Fairytales Sentiments set.  Again, it's subtle, but it draws your eye towards the image and adds just a little more visual interest and texture.  Can you tell that I'm a HUGE fan of this sentiment set!!!  LOL!!!

In this last pic, I have used one of the sentiments from the Fairytales Sentiments set.  It is absolutely perfect for this image.  I stamped it on cardstock, roughly cut it out and distressed it.  LOVE IT!!!

Well, that is it from me!  Don't forget to head on over to the Little Darlings Design Team Inspirations blog to enter your name in the contest (if you haven't already done so).  It's easy to enter and easy to win!!!

Thank you all so very much!!!

A Day At The Beach...

Hey Everyone!  I'm back today with another mixed media project.  I've decided that it's my new passion since I think about it quite a lot.  This time I literally worked with a blank canvas.  I've really been wanting to work with two of my favorite Little Darlings characters:  Schmaggie and Coin Slot, and developed this idea in my head.  To my surprise it worked out beautifully on canvas!  I'm thrilled with the way this turned out!!!  I hope you like it too :-)

On a side note...Today, while working on this project, my 9 year old son decided to join me in my craft studio.  He asked me to teach him how to do a mixed media project on canvas just like I was doing.  He has done such a beautiful job so far!  As soon as his project is done, I will proudly show it to you :-)

A Day At The Beach

I started with a blank canvas and decoupaged some papers over it.  I had this sweet cloud paper in my stash so I just had to use it for the sky.  Where else could I use it?  LOL!  I thought the zig zag paper resembled waves and decided to use a beige textural design for the sandy beach.  I have covered it with many different acrylics, tinted modeling paste, rubons, stamped images, etc.  I stamped the Little Darlings Rubber Stamps Schmaggie and Coin Slot images onto Cryogen cardstock and carefully cut them out.  They were decoupaged onto the canvas and then gently painted with gelatos.  The fence was an after thought as it was leftover from a different project and just sitting on my craft table daring me to find a use for it.  So I did!  I love how it gives bit of boundary and leads you towards the water.

I really enjoyed making this project and loved showing it to you.  I would love to know that you stopped by and truly appreciate your comments.  Have a wonderful day!

Hugs xoxo

Valentine Gift Tin

Hi Everyone!  Just a quick post to show you a project that I made for a class that I taught a couple of weeks ago.  I got the idea from Claudia, she's so doggone creative!  I just used this adorable 'Valentine Petals' stamp on the mixed media box in my last post.  But with Valentine's Day being just around the corner, how could I not use her again???  She's so stinkin' cute!  I just love her attitude!!!  The stamp comes with three sentiments, including the one that I'm showing on my project.  The other two sentiments are more generic in nature so you can use them with the stamp all year long!  You don't have to wait til Valentine's Day to let someone know that you care about them :-)

I bought a bunch of these tins online in 2 different sizes.  This is the smaller size.  The lids are hinged so that you don't lose them (which is good for me since my craft space gets quite messy).  They're perfect for decorating and filling with little gifts, or just to use as shelf storage for small crafting items.

Loved coloring her pink hair btw!

Here's a side view so you can see the washi tape, ribbon and sparklies :-)

Have a great day!

Angie

Mixed Media Heart Box

Hello Everyone!  I'm back today with something that may seem a bit unusual from me.  I haven't used acrylics in so many years, but I've been thinking about getting back to them lately.  I've had a cardboard heart box in my craft studio for a while now and just didn't know what I was going to do with it.  I tend to collect things when I go to the craft store.  I'll see something and know that I'll want to use it some time and figure that it just won't be at the store any longer when the time comes.  So, I buy these things for no other reason than I may just happen to want to do something with them somewhere down the road.  This heart box was one of those things.

I've been thinking of different ways to use rubber stamps other than on card fronts.  I wondered if I could stamp one and incorporate it into a mixed media project.  I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Never trust your heart to a flower
with an even number of petals...

After digging around in my craft studio for a short bit, I found some molding clay, mod podge and acrylic paints.  Then I went after my old collection of stickers from my scrapbooking days.  First I tinted the molding clay with some red paint and coated the entire box.  I found some scraps from the LDRS Summer Sorbet designer papers and tore them into strips.  They were applied to the box randomly with mod podge.  I really love these papers!  My DT and I have been able to use them in so many different ways...on cards, scrapbooks, altered projects and now in mixed media!  They really helped bring this project to life!

Next I stamped my image...the LDRS SC Valentine Petals.  She comes with sentiments too!  One of which I used on this box.  I stamped the sentiment, cut it apart, mounted it on some textured paper and set it aside.  I colored the image with Copic markers, which wasn't as difficult as I thought.  It's not as good as when colored on paper, but it worked!  I wasn't sure how it would be over the mod podge though.  Just don't expect to be able to do any blending.  Next I added some more color here and there with the acrylics.  Then I grabbed some old text stamps and rub on's and just started adding them wherever they seemed to work.

Next, I grabbed some self adhesive black pearl strands and strung them around the edge of the lid.  I had some wooden heart buttons, whose color was nowhere near what I needed, so I covered them with a crackle paint, threaded them and glued them down.  I grabbed the sentiment pieces and put them into place.  Lastly, I added some random doodling all over the lid.

So that's all I have for today.  I will be back as soon as I can.  Til then, try to think outside of your comfort zone and attempt to do something that you've never done before.  It doesn't have to be anything drastic.  It could be as simple as coloring a stamped image on a mixed media project!

Til next time...

Angie

Opening day of CHA!

Happy Saturday Everyone!!!!!!

Today is the first day of the

Craft & Hobby Association tradeshow in Anaheim, California!

We are having a FABULOUS time so far!  If you're at the show, please stop by booth 1913 to say 'Hello'!  Also, be sure to check out my FB page and the Little Darlings Rubber Stamps FB Group for pics from the show!  I'll be posting them as often as I can.

Next up, I've got a new project to show you with one of the Saturated Canary stamps from the CHA Winter 2013 release.  I hope you enjoy it :-)

This is 'Lilliana' and she's my favorite image from the new collection.  She'll be available in retail stores very soon.  I bought this frame with a coupon at a local craft store and thought it was the perfect size for 'Lilliana'. Once our new house is done, this frame will find itself hanging in my new craft studio :-)  The image is simply colored with Copic markers.  I kept the background plain so that 'Lilliana' is the main focus.  I trimmed the frame with a self-adhesive roll of gems and then added a small array of flowers.  Behind the flowers is a small  lace heart.

That's it!  Plain and simple!

My New Year's resolution is to spend at least 6 hours per month in my studio.  So, I'm hoping to be back here at least one every 2 weeks with a new project.  I'll see you back here soon!

Big Hugs to you all!

Angie
