Easter Basket...

Hi Everyone!  It's the start of a new week and I've got a ton of stuff planned.  I've got some fun projects to show you for DT and GDT spots.  I've also got to get ready for my first Monthly Card Class that I'm putting on at my home on Saturday.  The stamps just arrived yesterday so I can finally get started on the card that we're going to make.  I stopped by Archiver's yesterday and picked out the papers.  It's going to be very Springy!!!

On another note, a couple weeks ago I heard from Judi Maddigan over at Angels Landing.  She just launched some new digi designs and asked if I'd be interested in helping her promote them.  They are just adorable!!!  The little bunnies are perfect for Easter and Spring.  My project is below.  It was a true joy to make and I'm so happy with how it turned out.

Easter Basket

I've had these dp's from Graphic 45 for a while now and couldn't wait to do something with them for Easter.  This was the perfect project.  I decided that I wanted to make some sort of Easter basket and I have absolutely no basket weaving skills whatsoever!!!  So, I decided to do the best I could with what I had.  I made two flat surfaces by weaving two complimentary patterns together and securing them with Scor-Tape wherever necessary.  I trimmed the sides so they angled a bit like a basket would if you looked at it straight on.  I made a little 5 sided box to fit between.

The faux basket is trimmed with lace from my stash and flowers from WOC.  The image and background were cut with some SB dies.  I filled the basket with some moss from the craft store.  I like it much more than the shiny plastic stuff that you always find in kids Easter baskets on Easter Sunday.  The two fluffy chicks were a terrific find at Michaels when they first put out their Easter stuff.

Finally, a closeup of the Angels Landing bunny.  This darling little bunny was an absolute joy to paint with DI's.  I hope you'll take a look at the rest of their collections as they are just beautiful.

When I'm Down, You Pick Me Up!

Happy Friday Everyone!!!  Wow, this week has blown past!  My son has been off school for the week.  We've been so busy.  He had a friend sleep over on Wed. night and he spent the day with us.  Then a friend of mine called and asked if I could take care of her son for a bit because her mother is very sick and she needed to take her to the doctor.  That turned into another sleep over.  Today we've got plans with another friend of his and I've invited the boy that slept over to stay for the day.  So, today we've got a full day of kids and fun!  Tomorrow night my son is spending the night at his cousin's house.  Yay!  Mom and Dad will get to go out for a really nice dinner alone!!!

And now for the reason we're here today...I made another card using two stamps from Magnolia's 'You Are So Special' collection.  I am in love with this collection!  The images are so sweet and versatile.  Here's the card I made...it was soooooo much fun to work on :-)

When I'm Down, You Pick Me Up

I've used both #315 Waiting Tilda and #532 Romantic Window on this card.  They are both currently available over at Magnolia-licious so go get yours while they're still in stock!  I've really been enjoying my Copic markers lately and I've been bouncing back and forth between them and the DI's.  These images were colored entirely with Copics.  I really love how it turned out.

Once again I used dp's from Jillibean Soup...luvin' em'!  Cs is Bazzill.  The thick green ribbon is also by Bazzill.  The buttons and string are from my stash.

This card measures 6x6 inches.  Together, the images make such a statement so I embellished very simply so as not to take away from the images.  Not a single flower!  How did that happen???

This is the inside of the card.  It houses the sentiment by Stampendous, but still leaves plenty of space for someone to hand write a message from their heart.

Lili of the Valley GDT and Sneak Peek

Hey Everybody!!!  It's time for another LOVT challenge!  This is my first week as a Guest Designer and it just happens to be time for some sneak peeks of a new collection that is coming in March.  Yay!!!  I'm so excited about this release.  The images are just darling!!!  No surprise there :-)

I'm sure you'll want to see what the DT girls have come up with.  If you haven't been there already, be sure to visit the LOTV Challenge Blog for all of the details of the challenge and the samples from the DT girls.  They're sure to knock your socks off!!!

This week's challenge is to create a card using circles or dots...or in my case, both!  When I heard what the theme would be, I knew instantly that I wanted to make a circle easel card.  I just happened to have the circle shaped Spellbinders Grand Nesties and they were perfect for this card.  Here it is...I hope you enjoy it :-)

Friends...

Here's the front of the card.  Because I had so many circles and dots on this card, I decided to cut the image into a rectangle so it would stand out more.  Isn't this image of a little bunny cupcake party just the cutest thing???  It really makes me want a snack...Mmm Mmm Good!

The dp's are from Jillibean Soup "Blossom Soup" and they're my favorites right now.  All cs is by Bazzill.  The beautiful and perfectly matched little flowers are from WOC.  The dotted ribbon, lace, doily, and gems are from my stash.  The gems started out clear, but I coated them with a Copic marker so they would match my color scheme.  I roughed up all of the edges with my Zutter Distrezz-It-All.  It's very noisy, but I love it.  I rubbed the edges with a bit of Ranger DI in 'frayed burlap' to give it a bit of age.  The perimeter of the large dp circles got a coat of stardust Stickles for a little bit of shine - it's hard to see on camera but it really make a difference up close.

The sentiment on the front cover is by Magnolia.  The sentiment on the inside is by Stampendous.  This sentiment was cut and backed using two EK Success punches.  Lastly, I painted the image using watercolor with Ranger Distress Inks.

I really hope you enjoyed my first project as a LOTV Guest Designer.  This is something I've wanted to do for quite some time now and I'm so fortunate to have been given the opportunity.  I truly enjoyed working with this image and making this card.  If you have a moment, I would really appreciate it if you would leave me a comment letting me know what you think about my project.  Your comments always bring a smile to my face.  Rest assured, I read each and every one of them :-)

Magnolia-licious DT Blog Hop

Hey Everyone!  It's that time again!!!  The Magnolia-licious DT gals are here to put on a super show for you today.  Our theme this month is 'Mini Mags in Spring'!  As always, you can get the details of the challenge over at Magnolia-licious Highlites Challenge Blog.  I really hope you'll join in on the challenge.  With Spring approaching, it sure feels wonderful to make a project filled with sunshine and flowers.  I can't wait to see what you come up with!  The mini Magnolia images are so darn cute and versatile, so I'm sure you can come up with something fantastic!!!

On to my project...I call this an 'All Seasons Photo Cube' and I actually made it for CHA.  Diana has it now and I'm hoping she's enjoying it :-)  I purchased the 'unfinished' cube at Michaels craft store because the size of the windows was just perfect for the minis.  And, since there are 4 sides, it took no time at all to come up with the 'All Seasons' theme.  Unfortunately, I was in a bit of a rush to get everything ready for CHA and I didn't track the colors that I used on the images.  Sorry!

All Seasons Photo Cube

One of my goals with this project was to adorn it with materials that were all from Magnolia or the Magnolia shop in Sweden.  With the exception of the Tim Holtz crackle paint and the paper doily that is under the flowers on the lid, all other materials are from Magnolia.  I purchased all of the flowers from the Magnolia Shop when I visited, and went through a lot of memories in my head as I was securing them to the lid.  Funny how things can take you back to another date in time.  Even as I'm writing this post, I can remember how joyful it was to walk around the Magnolia shop.  I can't wait til I can visit there again.  Diana...if you read this...I'm ready when you are!!!

Spring

The first season I'll show you is Spring, since that is the challenge after all!  I used 'Mini Tilda with Cherries' and paired her with #427 Mini Lazy Summer Flowers.  I painted them with a combo of Copic markers and watercolors with Ranger Distress Inks.  The dp is from Magnolia.

Summer

Next up is Summer.  I used #390 Mini Tilda Picking Peaches and paired her with #428 Tree with Carved Heart.  This little mini Tilda fits perfectly under the full sized tree.  I just love them together!  I painted them with a combo of Copic markers and watercolors with Ranger Distress Inks. The dp is from Magnolia.

Fall

And now onto Fall!  Here in Michigan, Fall is still fairly warm.  So, I chose this adorable image #3073 Mini Edwin and Tilda Dancing.  I hand painted a field of flowers for them to play in.  I painted them with a combo of Copic markers and watercolors with Ranger Distress Inks. The dp is from Magnolia, however, it was originally grey and I wanted brown wood.  So, I rubbed it with several colors of my distress inks until I was happy with it.

Winter

Lastly, we have Winter.  I've used three mini Magnolia stamps here.  We have #3002 Mini Unwrapped Tilda, #170 Mini Santa Bending Over, and the Mini Christmas Tree.  I painted them with a combo of Copic markers and watercolors with Ranger Distress Inks. The dp is, of course, from Magnolia.

The next and final stop of the Hop is Janiel.  I'm sure she has something absolutely mind blowing to show you.  She takes her creativity to new heights with everything she does!

GREAT NEWS!!!

Hi Everyone!!!  I received some great news last night and I'm still in a bit of shock.  Last week I entered a card into the Lili of the Valley Challenge and also put my name in for the running for their guest design spot.  I looked over so many of the entries and knew that I wouldn't have a chance. 

Well................I ACTUALLY GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I still can't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, for the next four weeks I will be the Guest Designer for Lili of the Valley's Thursday Challenge Blog!!!!!!!!!  My first card will be in next weeks challenge so please be sure to look for me :-)

Amber Swings...

PaperPlay Challenges DT

Hey Hey Everyone!  Today is my first challenge as a DT member for PaperPlay Challenges!!!  WooHoo!!!  I'm so excited to have joined this team.  We get to use all sorts of images on our projects and the challenges are a ton of fun.  This week the challenge is "Add Shine"...we're challenging everyone to come up with something shiny or sparkley (is that a word???).  Whateva!  Now... every girl loves a little bling bling here and there so this shouldn't be tooooo difficult for ya.

This week's sponsor is Just Some Lines and their digi images are just darling!  I don't usually work with a lot of digis so this was extra special fun for me.  I may just start using them a little more often!  I chose to work with 'Amber on a Swing' and she was so fun to color.  I just love how my card turned out.  I hope you like it too :-)

I told you she was darling!  I wanted to use some Spring colors so I chose these dp's by 'We Are Memory Keepers'.  I think they're actually Valentine papers, but the colors are so 'Springy' and the hearts are very subtle, so I think they are perfect for Spring.  So bright and vibrant...I love 'em.  I paired them with some cs by Bazzill that happened to match perfectly.

I cut and backed the image with some Spellbinder's Nestabilities dies.  All flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The ribbon, lace, and pearls are from my stash. 

I added some 'Shine' to all of the flowers with some stardust Stickles.  Unfortunately, the camera didn't capture it well...but I assure you, it's there!  You can see a glimse of the inside of the card, which I decorated to match the front.  I left a nice big space for a hand written note.

I colored with a combo of Copic markers and watercolors with Ranger distress inks.  Here's the details...

Copics:  E000, 00, 11, 40, 42, 43, 44, 50, R20, Y21

DI's:  forest moss, weathered wood, tumbled glass, peeled paint, black soot, walnut stain, worn lipstick, shabby shutters

Happy Everything...

Hi Everybody!  I hope you're all having a super duper weekend.  Mine has been relaxing so far.  Hubby took our son to the movies and now he's dropping him off at grandma's house.  Looks like hubby and I will get to have a few hours of quiet together :-)  While they were at the movies, I took advantage of the alone time and spent it in my craft studio.  I have some new LOTV stamps and I've been wanting to ink one up.  Here's how it turned out...

Happy Everything 

This adorable image is LOTV's 'Love Grows' and it's from their new release.  I paired it with K&Co's 'McKenna' dp's and SU cs.  I followed the sketch from the LOTV Challenge Blog and it was so much fun to work with. 

You can see in these photos that, although I followed the layout of the sketch, I did a little something extra fun with it.  I made the top layer the flap that opens to reveal the inside of the card.  Not easy to take photos to show the effect though!  Anyway, I'm entering this card in the LOTV challenge and I'm crossing my fingers!

The flowers are from WOC and I added greenery using a MS branch punch.  The sentiment and butterfly tickets were made using my new Whimsy Stamps set with matching die.  The silk ribbon and pearls are from my stash. 

Here's a better view of the inside.  I left an area for someone to write a personal message to the recipient.

I colored the image with a combo of Copic markers and watercolors with Ranger distress inks.  Here are the details:

Be Mine Now and Always...

Hi Everyone!  I've got a quick post today.  My 'work' is boring so I won't give you the details of that.  I took a break yesterday and made a card.  I really needed some crafting therapy.  As you can see from my card below, I'm still having a bit of fun with shaped cards and my new dies.  It's my birthday today and I've asked my hubby for the Spellbinder's Grand Calibur so I can use the larger dies in the sets that I've purchased lately.  We don't actually celebrate until Sunday so I'll have to wait til then to find out :-(

News: I've joined the PaperPlay Challenges DT!  I'm so excited to be joining this team.  They've got some really talented people on their team and I'm thrilled to be a part of it.  The challenge starting today is 'Hearts/Flowers...but not a Valentine'.  I didn't join the DT in time for a DT entry, but my card for today does have hearts and flowers on it!

Be Mine Now and Always

For this card, I've inked up #3008 Tilda with Heart from Magnolia's 'You're So Special' collection.  I've also used #520 Love Background on the heart in the background.  You can get both of these stamps and more at Magnolia-licious (my favorite place to shop for Maggies!).

The shape of this easel card was cut with my new Go Kreate XXL Square Frame Frilly #6 dies.  Love these dies!!!  The gorgeous dp's are from the Memory Box "Pixie" collection.  The lace and ribbon are scraps and I'm thrilled that I found a use for them.  The flowers are from WOC.  I colored the image with a combo of Copic markers and watercolor with distress inks.  The large hearts were cut with a SB heart die.  The heart border was cut with a WOJ die.

This sweet sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps.  It was cut with another WOJ die.  The pearls are from Zva Creative and I love how they show off the sentiment.

Ellie Elephant...

Good Afternoon Everyone!  Oh what a busy day so far!  I spent all morning grocery shopping and working on 'business stuff' and I'm exhausted!!!  Time for a little fun now.  I've earned it :-)

I hope you're all signing up for my CANDY!  I'm so sorry that the little 'froggie' thingy didn't work.  Sometimes you try something new and it just doesn't work out!  I'll try to get it right next time.

I've got a cute little card for you today.  I bought these Stamposaurus stamps a little while back and I finally found some time to ink one up.  They are just adorable!

Ellie Elephant

This little sweetie is 'Ellie Elephant'.  She's absolutely precious!  Oh boy does she make me think of spring!!!  I colored her up with some Copics and cut with my Spellbinders die.  The background was also cut with a SB die.  The sweet little swirls were cut with a die by Marianne Designs.   It's so delicate and worked perfectly with this project.

I wanted to do a little something different this time so I folded the card down the middle like a tent.  I love how the image pops up and really stands out.  The dp's are from BG's 'Green at Heart' collection.  The lace is from my stash.  I threaded some of it with some string and pulled it together to form a flower.  The purple and pink flowers are all from WOC and I've covered them with stardust Stickles.  I've also got some green Stickles on the swirls.

This is how it looks if it's lying flat.  The finished size is 5.5" x 5.5".  The sentiment is from a new set that I got from Whimsy Stamps...they're called 'Friendship'.  It has a really nice ticket die that is sold separately.  It makes it really easy to cut out the stamped sentiment.  Just love it!

Hey There Everyone!!!  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  Ours is a pretty busy one.  I'm still catching up from CHA...but I'm almost there.  Hubby entered a mountain biking snow race on Saturday and I was so happy when he arrived home afterwards in one piece.  We got a lot of snow again on Saturday and it took him forever to drive home.  It was coming down really fast and I think we got another 6 inches!  He was going about 4 mph on the highway.  Yuck!  My son and I were at home for the day.  He played on his computer for a bit while I worked.  Then we played some family games before putting him to bed.  Today, Sunday, I have another list of things to do, so hubby took our son sledding in all the new snow.  Yay, what fun!  I'm getting my work done and then we will head off to my nieces birthday party.

I opened a new Etsy store and put a couple of cards in it.  I still have a bunch that I want to upload to it, but it may take a week or so.  I hope you'll take a looksie if you find the time.

The gorgeous dp's are from BG's 'Olivia' collection.  Love them!!!!  They are just so stunning!  All cs is SU.  The ribbon is some seam binding that I dyed with my distress inks.  The flowers and pearl spray were all sent to me by my friend Mindy - thanks Mindy!  I cut the background with my new Go Kreate 'XXL Square Frames Frilly #2' die set.  If you haven't seen these then you must check them out.  They are fantastic and I want every one of them!  The doily that I used in the background was part of some sample stuff that I received when I purchased something.  I can't remember who it is from right now :-(      

I just love this sentiment!  It's from a set from Dies to Die For.  It comes with several stamps and a die to cut around the border.  Now that I think about it, I think the doily was a little sample from them when I received the stamp/die set.  I just found it on their site!  It's called Dainty Lace Doily and I just ordered it along with some others.  I guess I'm in a shoppin' mood!  Anyway, the pearls are from my stash and were out of the package so I have no idea who the manufacturer is.

This little darling is #292 Tilda Spreads Love and she's from Magnolia's new You're So Special collection.  She's my favorite image from this collection and she's currently available for purchase over at Magnolia-licious.  So, I love this image, but I'm not completely in love with how my card turned out.  I decided to color this image with Copics only, because I purchased some new paper - Cryogen.  I really like how the Copics blend on this paper, but the paper is slightly off white in color and it makes the marker colors appear darker too.  I'm also getting used to how the ink instantly soaks into the paper (this doesn't happen with the Artist Marker Pad that I'm used to working with).  Anyway, because of these changes, the colors are darker than I'm used to and Tilda ended up looking a bit flush.  I'll have to adjust my skin tones with the next image that I color on this paper.  I'll definitely use it again because the markers blend beautifully on it.  Anyway, another thing I'm not happy with is the silver heart and how it was captured on camera.  It's a white paper doily that I sprayed with Maya Mist - Silver and it looks really cool in person!  The camera makes it look charcoal grey and I couldn't do anything to fix it.  Bummer :-(  Another thing the camera didn't capture well is the pink background that I have around the image.  It's really pretty in person.  Finally, I used my sewing machine to zig-zag the dp's to the cs, and....let me tell you my friend...it's not nearly as easy as it looks!  My zig-zagging technique is going to require a lot of practice!!!  So, some of the things that I don't like are really obvious, and some of the things that I do like didn't photograph well.  Oh well!

So, on to the things that I really like about this card...The gorgeous dp's are Imaginisce "Enchanted".  They're 'princess' papers, but many of them fit perfectly with Valentine's Day.  All cs is by Bazzill - love their paper!  The white tulle, pearls and pins are from my stash and they really add nice texture to the card.  I used a new MS heart border punch around the image and I think it's stunning.  The image, by the way, was cut with a Spellbinder's Nestabilities oval die.  The huge rose in the center of the tulle is from WOC and I've been waiting for an opportunity to use it.  This card is larger than my usual, 6x6 finished, and it seemed like it could definitely handle the large rose.

My New Year's 'craft' Resolution is to finish the inside of all of my cards.  So, here is the inside of this card.  The paper doily is exactly as the one on the cover started out.  The sentiment is new but I can't remember the manufacturer.  The hearts were cut with a Spellbinder's die.

Hi Everyone!  I'm back from CHA and had a wonderful time!  The weather was much warmer than in Michigan, although it still got a little chilly at night.  It was really nice to see the sunshine again!  We don't get a whole heck of a lot of sunshine in Michigan during the winter.  In fact, we got hit with a snow storm last night!  Anyway, the show was a blast!  I still can't believe how many vendors were there.  There are so many really cool products coming out and I'm sure Suzanne Dean will cover them all for you.  I have three favorites: Melissa Frances papers, Spellbinder's Nestabilities dies (I already have mine on pre-order!), and Basic Grey papers (also on pre-order!).  I know what you're thinking...'Melissa Frances papers?  Aren't they a little too frilly for you Angie?'.  I know, I know... they're not my usual style, but Barb Hardeman introduced me to the line and I think they're absolutely gorgeous!!!  They have some stunning embellies to go with them too - hehe...definitely gonna get me some!

This is the purse that I made for the Valentine issue of Magnolia Ink.  I just love to see my stuff on display in the Magnolia booth :-)

We all had such a wonderful time.  It's always great to meet the people that you chat with regularly in blog land.  Not only did I get to meet more of my DT sisters, but I also got to meet several ladies that have often commented on my blog.  It was so great to put faces with names and talk with each of you.  I had an absolutely wonderful time!
