CHA Summer 2010

Hi Everyone!  I'm back from CHA and I HAD AN AWESOME TIME!  I'm already looking forward to next year.  I got to spend my first day doing demos at the Scor-Pal booth with Diana, Roy and Val.  I had a blast!  Thank you Diana for extending the invitation!!!  Here's a picture of Diana and Roy - two of the sweetest people EVER!

Afterwards, I made my way around the show and found two booths that had some amazing projects on display.  I only had my phone to take photos so they're not very good quality.  What a dope!  I can't believe I forgot my camera!

Below is a slideshow of my favorite projects that were displayed at the Graphic 45 booth.  They had the most spectacular booth.  They were all decked out in Alice in Wonderland costumes to compliment the release of the collection.  It looked like a Halloween spectacular!  My photos do not do the projects justice though.  They have some truly amazing artists.

Next is the Prima booth.  They too had some fantastic projects to showcase their new products.  I fell in love with their use of flowers, as you can see from my photos.  They are absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to add them all to my 'collection'.

Later that evening I joined Diana, Suzanne Dean and Janiel Corley (from the Magnolia-licious DT) for a fantastic dinner.  We met for drinks and then Diana took us all to a wonderful restaurant where we had an awesome time!  I love you girls!!!!  It was so great to meet and get to know each of you.  I thought I had a photo from our dinner out, but needless to say it didn't turn out!  TIP OF THE DAY -When someone else uses your camera (phone), make sure to double check that they actually pressed the button and snapped the photo!!!

That's it for today.  I hope you all enjoyed the photos!

The Little Mermaid...

Hi Everyone!  I'm leaving for CHA today and I really wanted to show you one more card before I left.  I've been going crazy trying to find the time to ink up one of my new stamps from my Magnolia stamp kit.  And...I found a way to ink up two!

I wanted to do something with some beachy colors...you know...the colors of the sand and the sea.  Here's what I came up with.  I hope you like her!

I've entered this card in the following challenge:

My Parter In Crafting Crime - Under the Sea Challenge #7

The Little Mermaid

This little beauty is #306 Little Mermaid Tilda and she is paired with #432 Seaweed.  Both are part of the Bon Voyage collection and can be pre-ordered at Magnolia-licious right now.  I just love them!  I used dp's from KaiserCraft's Le Chateau Collection and Magnolia's Fairytale Collection.  CS is both Bazzill and SU.

The gorgeous flowers are from Magnolia and Prima.  I covered the water bubbles with raised water drops from Cloud9Design and they look sooooooooooo cool in person!  The pearls are from Making Memories.

The twine was sent to me by Magnolia and was leftover from my magazine DT kit.  I think it fits perfectly with this card.  I added icicle Stickles to Tilda's attire and the flowers.

I colored the images using Copic markers and watercolors with Ranger Distress Inks. Here are the details:

Copics:  E00, 02, 41, 44, 50, 53, RV21, Y21

Distress Inks:  walnut stain, black soot, antique linen, tumbled glass, peeled paint, shabby shutters

That's it for today!  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I'm off to CHA!  I'll try to send some photos if I can.  If not, I'll load them when I get back.

Wishing you were here...

Magnolia-licious DT Nautical Blog Hop

Hi Everyone!  And welcome to another fantabulous Magnolia-licious DT Blog Hop.  This month Diana challenged us to create something using a nautical theme and I couldn't wait to get started!  You can get all of the details of the Hop and how to join in on the challenge at Magnolia-licious Highlites.  You can also start over there if you missed the beginning.  But, if you arrived here from Becca's blog then you're on the right track!

Here's my card...
Wishing You Were Here
Here's the front of the card when it's closed.  I used #616 Lifebuoy, which you can get from Magnolia-licious.  I stamped the image, scanned it, and then brought it into MS Word to enlarge it.  I then printed it with a laser printer and painted it with watercolor.  I love how it turned out.  The squigglies are glitter and didn't photograph well.  Believe me, it looks much better in person.
Here's the card when it's open.  #237 Beach Tilda is sitting on #615 Pier Fence With Lifebuoy and she's missing her friend.  You can get both of these images at Magnolia-licious
Here's an angled view so you can see the dimension of the card.  I really like how this card turned out.  The dp's are from TPC Studio's - Heartfelt Travel collection.  The cs is Bazzill.  I embellished it very simply with some shells that I found in my button drawer.

I colored the images with a combination of Copic markers and watercolors with Ranger Distress Inks.  Here are the details:

Copics: E00, 02, 35, 44, 50, 53, RV21, W1, 3, 5, 7, C5

Distress Inks: black soot, barn door, faded jeans

The sentiment was printed on a laser printer.  I added some glitter just to make it pop a little.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed my easel card.  I absolutely loved making it.  Don't forget to continue the Blog Hop by stopping by Patti Jo's blog from here.  She's got something awesome to show you!  Have fun!!!

Edit: It has been brought to my attention by a viewer that I have violated Magnolia's Angel Policy by enlarging the Lifebuoy. My apologies to Magnolia for this. It truly was not an intentional violation. It never occured to me that an enlargement was considered a modification since the integrity of the image remained the same. Going forward I will not make the same mistake.

BLOG CANDY CHALLENGE!

Good Evening Everyone and welcome to my CANDY challenge!  It's been a long time since I posted any CANDY and I wanted to make this a good one.  I've got two prizes for two winners.  The first will be hand selected by me and the second will be selected by RANDOM.org.  Here's what you can win:

These Ranger Distress Inks are the 13 colors that I use most often.  They include the following colors:  Barn Door, Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, Forest Moss, Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters, Dusty Concord, Walnut Stain, Weathered Wood, Bundled Sage, Victorian Velvet, Scattered Straw, and Antique Linen

There are six 6x6 paper pads in this group: BasicGrey - Max & Whiskers, Kioshi, Cappella; and PinkPaislee - Queen Bee, 365 Degrees, Bayberry Cottage.  There are four Magnolia stamps: Happiness Be Yours, Tilda with Violin, Tilda with Sunflower (unmounted), and Blades of Grass (unmounted).  There is also a pack of BasicGrey buttons.

Now for the challenge...You need to make an easel card and you must use the colors brown and red.  Brown is my favorite color and I just love when it is paired with shades of red.  You can add any other color(s) that you like and you may use any shade of brown or red.  You get to pick the theme for your card and any embellies that you like.  I will mention, however, that I am partial to the holidays :-)

USE WHATEVER IMAGE YOU LIKE!  Magnolia's are obviously my favorite, but it won't help you win.  I want to see what YOU like.  Be creative...Be imaginative...and most of all - HAVE FUN!  The more fun you have, the more awesome your card will be :-)

I will personally hand pick the first winner, who will get to choose which prize she/he would like.  The second winner will be selected by RANDOM.org and she/he will receive the remaining prize.  Each winner will be required to send me their winning easel card for my personal collection.

If you're interested in joining in on the fun, you will have 30 days to complete your card.  The challenge will begin on July 17, 2010 at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Standard Time and will end on August 16, 2010 at 12:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.  Please add a link to your card using the Linky below, adding your name to the title of the thumbnail AND MAKE SURE THE LINK POINTS TO THE ACTUAL POST ON YOUR BLOG.  To make sure that I can contact you if you win, leave a comment on this post only with your name and email address.  The only other requirement is that you place a link to this CANDY challenge on the sidebar of your blog (provided you have a blog).

Best of luck to you should you decide to join in.  Absolutely anyone is welcome to enter a card, regardless of skill level.  Don't be shy!  You can enter as often as you like.  I can't wait to see what you make!

Tilda with Gifts...

Hello Hello!  Well, I sure hope you're all having a great week so far.  It's been a bit cloudy and rainy the last few days here in Michigan.  The sun finally started shining again this evening and I think it's supposed to be gorgeous tomorrow.  I'm looking forward to a day by the pool with my son.  Maybe we'll end up with a few friends over too!

So, yesterday was torture because I lost my internet connection in the morning and didn't get it back til late last night.  My hubby was able to spend some time working on it last night and found a work-around the problem.  Thankfully it's been fine all day.  It's a really strange feeling to lose your internet connection.  I felt so disconnected from everyone and kept wondering what I was missing.

Hubby and I were discussing possible future vacation spots and I mentioned Sweden.  Can you guess why?  He wasn't interested in travelling that distance to go Magnolia shopping with me, but......he said I can go whenever I want!  Now I need to find someone willing to go with me.  Hmmm...think, think, think...

Anyway, I found a bit of time in my craft room this morning and pulled out my Magnolia wedding stamps that I got from Diana.  I really like that so many of the images can be used for occasions other than a wedding since we don't attend many weddings anymore.  But, in this case, we're invited to attend another out-of-town wedding early in August so I decided to make a wedding card.  I'm really happy with the card.  I hope you like it too.

By the way, I truly appreciate all of your comments.  Thank you all so much for visiting my blog and taking the time to leave me a little note.  It really means a lot :-)  As a special thank you, I'm going to put together a little CANDY in the next few days.  I hope you'll check back and get in the running for it.  It's gonna be good - I promise!

Here's my card.  I hope you'll let me know what you think :-)

Tilda with Gifts

Isn't she precious?  How could anyone not fall in love with this image?  Who doesn't want to receive a mountain of gifts?  She's perfect and she's #249 Tilda with Gifts.  You can get her right HERE at Magnolia-licious.  Diana has the entire Wedding Collection stocked and ready for you to order.
The dp's that I used on this card are also from Magnolia's Wedding Collection and you can get them right HERE at Magnolia-licous.  Now, I'm always a fan of Magnolia's paper designs, but this Wedding Collection is super fantastic.  I just love the regal patterns and the gold prints.  They're stunning!  I paired them with some leftover shimmery blue cs from my scrap basket and white cs from SU.  I cut the white cs trim around the image using one of the gorgeous new Magnolia DooHickey Dies - Tilda Lace.  If you haven't seen these yet, you absolutely must check them out!!!  As if their mere existence wasn't enough, Diana has them at the most super of all prices!  I ordered all four the moment I saw them and they just arrived the other day.  Yay!  I'm like a kid in a candy store!
The blue/grey velvet ribbon is from my stash and is sooooo beautiful in person.  I wish the photo could capture the texture.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and my own stash.  I added crystal and platinum Stickles to the flowers and ribbon around the gifts.  Oh!  I almost forgot to mention!  Diana sent me a Scor-Buddy and I LOVE IT!  I got to use it for the first time on this gate fold card.  THANKS DIANA!  It really made it that much easier!  It came with it's own cute little carrying sack and the storage of the scoring tool is the coolest!  And...it's the perfect size to take with you wherever you want to work on your paper crafts.
Here's the inside of the card.  The sentiment is #735 Wishing Two People from Magnolia's Wedding Collection and it's just perfect!  Diana has it in stock so hop on over to Magnolia-licious and get one for yourself.  I stamped the sentiment using Encore Ultimate Metallic gold ink.  It was trimmed out using a MS punch around the page.  Almost forgot, the blue paper in the center is from Magnolia's Hoppy Easter/Spring Collection.

So, I colored this little cutie using a combination of Copic markers and watercolor with Ranger Distress Ink.  Here are the details:

Copics:  E00, 02, 35, 44, 50, 53, RV21

DI's:  walnut stain, dusty concord, milled lavender, weathered wood, vintage photo

Well, that's all I have for now.  I hope you'll check back before the weekend to see the CANDY that I'll be giving away.  Til then, I hope you find some time to color.  Thanks for stopping by.

Angie

A Flower for a Pretty Girl...

Hi Everyone!!!  I'M BACK!!!  I'm sure it's far more exciting for me than for you.  I've really missed everyone.  June is an absolute blur.  I was so busy and it went by so fast.  Work was just crazy, which is a good thing when you rely on product sales.  We attended a beautiful wedding on the beach in Saugatuck, Michigan.  It was a gorgeous sunny and very hot day for the wedding couple.  We also had a quick last minute jaunt to Disney World for four days and returned on July 4th to an evening of fireworks in celebration of Independence Day in the USA.  The following day we had a fairly large pool party at our house with many of our friends.  The temperature was in the 90's and it was gorgeous.  And, in between all of this, I had to find time here and there to work on my projects for the next Magnolia Ink magazine.  I managed to get it all done and I'm fully recovered.  Whew!

Today I worked until 1pm and then found a little bit of time in my craft room to put together my first card with one of my new stamps from Magnolia's Wedding Collection - thank you Diana for my DT package!!!.  At first things weren't going well with the distress inks.  I felt as though I had been away from them forever and it had only been two weeks.  Finally, I got into the groove and it all came together in the end.

I hope you enjoy my card...

A Flower for a Pretty Girl

Isn't she just the sweetest little thing?  #392 Tilda with Peony is one of my favorite images from Magnolia's Wedding Collection and you can get it at Magnolia-licious.  I think she is just precious so I chose her first to work with.
These stunning dp's are brand new from BG's "Olivia" collection and I JUST LOVE THEM!  I chose them for my card before anything else.  I used both Bazzill and SU cs to mount the image and dp's.  The image is mounted on navy blue cs, although it looks like black in the photos.  I couldn't figure out how to correct it - sorry :-(
The image was cut using my Nestabilities 'Large Deckled Rectangles'.  These gorgeous flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and I'm hooked on their store!  I've seen many people using their flowers on cards so I decided to give it a shot and place a small order.  I was so amazed that I've already placed two more orders!  I think I have to stop now because I've run out of space in my designated flower drawers.  Anyway, I covered them with crystal Stickles.  The glass garland is by, none other than, Magnolia and you can get yourself some right here at Magnolia-licious.  I must be honest...when I first purchased it I didn't quite know how to use it or how to adhere it to my cards.  But I have to tell you, I LOVE IT NOW!  It adds such a beautiful backdrop and texture for the flowers.  AND...I staple it into place with my Tim Holtz 'Tiny Attacher Stapler'.  That tool is one of my favorite new tools this year.  Gotta get one if you haven't already.  OMG...I'm rambling...so sorry!  The sweet little butterfly was a gift from my friend and fellow DT member, Mindy.  Thanks Mindy!  The lace is from one of my loose ribbon drawers.

And now for the details...This little cutie was colored with a combination of Copic markers and watercolor with Ranger distress inks.  I'll give you the colors below in a minute.  I used Hero Arts Prisma Glitter on the peony.  At the very end, I sprayed the entire card with 'pearl' Glimmer Mist and the whole thing just SPARKLES!

Copics:  Eoo, o2, RV21 - skin;    E35, 41, 44, 50, 53 - hair

DI's:  spun sugar, victorian velvet, weathered wood, shabby shutters, forest moss, bundled sage, walnut stain, black soot

Well, that's it for now!  Thank you so much for joining me today.  I hope you enjoyed your stay.

Surprise!

CLP DT Sketch Challenge #27

Happy July 1st everybody!!! And welcome to another fantastic sketch challenge by CLP. We had an awesome turnout last month and all of your cards were fabuloso!!! Can't wait to see who the winner is!!!!!!

This month, Chelsea has come up with a really cool sketch. It's a really busy one so there is a lot going on in a 5.5 x 5.5 square. You'll see lots of layers and embellies.  I actually made my card nearly a month ago since I wanted to give it to my best friends daughter for her 4th birthday. This darling little Motivet stamp was sent to me by Mindy, my friend and fellow CLP designer. This was the first time I'd ever colored one of these images and it was a ton of fun. These little critters are soooooooo cute and perfect for a child's card.

So, without further delay....here's my card! I hope you like it.

Surprise!
This little critter is Doraline - Surprise! In all honesty, I don't know what kind of critter she is, but she sure is cute! The bright and cheery dp's are by BoBunny. All cs is Bazzill. The loop punch is by MS and the handmade flowers were made using Marvy punches. I embellished their centers with clear gems for a little sparkle. The bright pink ribbon is no-name from the craft store. I added a little more sparkle to the stripes and bow on the gift box with some crystal Stickles. The sentiment is by A Muse Artstamps.
Here's an angled view to show the dimension of the embellies on the card.

Here's the inside of the card. It's all ready for me to leave a special little note for the birthday girl. The sentiment is by Stampin' Up.

The image was colored entirely with Copic markers. I haven't done that in a while! I did sneak a little shading at the very end with Ranger black soot. Shhhh...don't tell anyone.

Copics: W00, 1, 3, 5, 7, BG0000, 01, 02, 05, RV00, 21, 23, 25, YG21, 23, 25

Oh my goodness what a fun project! I sure hope you'll join in. Every month the DT can't wait to see what you all do with the sketch. For the details of the challenge, please check out the CLP Challenge Blog.  I also strongly encourage you to take a looksie at the other DT cards if you haven't already. They're such fantastic artists and it's a pleasure to be working with them every month.  You can follow their links from the CLP Challenge Blog.

That's all I have for today! I hope you find some time to color. Thanks for stopping by!
