Elfin Magic...

Happy Tuesday Everyone!  We've got a rainy day here in Michigan today.  I sure hope yours is filled with sunshine.  I will be spending the first part of today running a few errands and then doing my favorite - accounting.  Not!  I plan on spending the better part of the afternoon in my craft room finishing up a little card that I started yesterday.  I had all of ten minutes to color an image and I'm almost done with it.  I found a sketch that I may use.  We'll see.

After a spectacular blog hop on Saturday, I tried to think of the next project for me.  I wanted to use another Magnolia Fairytale image...but which one?  I had just received a few more in the mail and decided to use one of them. This is what I came up with.  I hope you like it...

Elf Tilda
Ok. So answer me this...Is she supposed to be sitting on something?  This question has caused me a lot of grief.  When I look at this image, I see Tilda as 'hovering'.  Her wings are open fully and only one leg is bent.  She almost looks as though she is about to land.  When I showed my husband my 'completed' card, he asked "What is she sitting on?".  My stomach sank.  I explained what I see when I look at her and he insists that she is in a sitting position.  So, I'm putting the question to you...Is she in the air or sitting???

The image is #219 Elf Tilda.  You can get her and many other Magnolia stamps at Magnolia-licious.  The dp's and ribbon are by BoBunny.  I just love the rich wine color.  All cs is Stampin' Up.  The sentiment is from Scrappy Cat and it is backed by a MS lace tag.  I distressed the tag with a little Ranger distress ink and matted it with a circle cut with a Nestability.

I added a little flower that was laying in a drawer to the center of the ribbon and decorated it with a pink pearl from American Crafts.  The corners of the image are embellished with some oyster baubles from Stamping Bella.  Lastly, crystal Stickles cover Tilda's wings.

I colored the image with Copic markers and watercolor with Ranger distress inks.  Here's the detail of the colors that I selected:

Copics:  E00, 02, 41, 43, RV21, R0000, 81

DI's:  Pumice Stone, Walnut Stain, Dusty Concord, Aged Mahogany, Spun Sugar, Old Paper

That's all I have for today.  Thank you so much for stopping by.  Try to find some time to color!

Ciao,

Angie

This is so pretty! IMO, she is definitely flying or hovering. I guess she could be resting on a leaf or something, but she's too busy for that lazy business!! LOL! Your coloring and glitz is perfect. TFS ~Tori

Very pretty, Angie. Beautiful coloring and papers. To answer your question, I think she could be used either way (hovering or sitting) but my first glance at her would be that she's sitting on something. No worries... :o) hugs, Angela

Love your coloring of your elf Angie, but she seems to be half setting and half ready to lift off. she needs something to lift off to... background too plain for this beauty... The papers and stamp is astonishingly beautiful and love your little bow with what is that a button in the middle? Anyway, it is a beauty... Love her and your card is another beauty..
Hugs, Jean...

I would try her on another piece of paper and try her sitting on something and see how it looks.Great card, either way.

Beautiful card! My first time I saw her I said hovering and still think she is. BUT i can see where she could sit on the edge of something too.

That's what's great about these images; I think they were designed to be used either way... but I agree with the others, perhaps some kind of hint is needed to show which position she is in... perhaps a leaf to lift off of would be cool.

HI ANGIE((WAVING)) Fist of your coloring is stunning! Your card is super adorable.AHEM my opinion is she is a perfect image to be used either or BUT BUT i really seriously think she's up in the air, like you said about to land.Almost like super girl.Either way you used her perfectly. Your coloring is absolutely stunning and the layout is fabulous. I guess I thought she was supposed to be sitting on something, but she looks great just flying! Isn't that what fairies do? Funny, because the image Flying Tilda looks like she's standing....it's all in artistic intrepretation!

Hi Angie, your coloring is stunning!love the lace tag you created and the ribbon with the flower & pearl brad, it's awesome!
When I first saw this Tilda (just a plain image, not colored), I thought she was supposed to be sitting but now when I see your card she could be 'hovering' or she looks like she's ready to fly. Maybe it needs some background? DOn't know...
Anyway, I'm aweed by your coloring!
Hugs,
Silvie from France

Absolutely beautiful card. Love the colors. I would say that Tilda is definitely in the air, possibly getting ready to land or has just taken off!

In my humble opinion it looks to me like she is sitting, you know when you trying to lever your toosh onto a sofa that is too high, somthing like that.
sorry gotta agree with your hubby
but you did a fabulous job on the lo and the coloring

Gorgeous card Angie! Love this sweet image and you showcased her beautifully.

sweet, dramatic card Angie...I vote sitting...because of the way her hands are...the other sitting Tildas and Edwins hands are like this when they are sitting...
just had to chuckle...hovering made me think of a helicopter and she's just too delicate for that! Super cute Daddy's little girl card. Just had a thought, wouldn't she be sweet sitting on a flower/branch?!

She might be floating on a cloud! None the less, she's so adorable..

First,Beautiful card. Second, I think she could go either way and look fine. I do believe she appears to be sitting though, mostly because of how her hands are. In the fairytale collection there is a similiar "Flying Fairy" and you can tell she is Hovering! I made a card recently using her, you can see it here:

I think she is adorable and looks like she is dancing. I stopped letting my husband critique my work, guys do not have a creative bone in their body well not any I have met. You so got it right.

Hi Angie,
What a beautiful card. Love the rich wine colours. You always colour beautifully :o)
I think Tilda could be either sitting or hovering ( flying ) it is all in the artist interpretation.
You have made a gorgeous card for a Father - love the tag.

Hi Angie,
Beautiful creation as usual. Hmmmm... Because of the way her hands are I would say sitting but she could be coming in for a landing. Either way she looks darling and you have done a super job. My hubby comments on my cards too and he is good at giving me advice.
Hugs Marion

Angie Hun, I guess thats the beauty of Magnolia images - they are so versatile! I think on your card she looks perfect hovering in the breeze :) Maybe next time you ink her up you will get a different feeling for her? I do that all the time with my little Magnolias.
Gorgeous colouring! Hope you find lots of time to colour and create today :)
Hugs Kylie

Your card is lovely! I think she could be sitting based on the position of her hands, but I can see her flying as well.

Beautiful card. I don't think she is sitting. I think she is coming in for a landing. Love your coloring.

Hi Angie! Gorgeous card, as always!! Beautiful coloring!! Well, to give you my 2 cents... I think she's supposed to be sitting on something sideways (hence the one "stretched" leg and her hands look like the are "resting" on something...) but I like your idea too!! I'd say there's no right or wrong here.... Your card is just sweet as can be!! No worries :o)

i love this, I think she could be sitting or flying. Beautiful rich colors.

Beautiful card! Love the coloring and composition. She is hovering. If she were sitting, the lower portion of her right wing would not be visible below her hand. It would be behind whatever she was sitting on - IMHO!

Beautiful card! I think she looks like dancing. I can see how someone might think she's half sitting on something, but her arms and hands are posed, like she's doing something artful, like dancing, or like you said, about to land or take off.
