Princess of Thieves...

Magnolia-licious DT Blog Hop!!!

Happy Blog Hop Monday Everyone!!!  Wow, I cannot believe that it has been a week since I've posted anything!  I had an extremely busy week and I'm so glad that it's over.  I won't bore you with the details since it was all work related.  Let's just say that 'tax time' leaves me exhausted.  I've really missed checking out everyone's creations and I don't think I'll have time to catch up.  So, I'll just start fresh from where we are now.

Now onto the BLOG HOP!  That is the reason we're here!  And what a fabulous Hop it is.  If you came to me by way of Cheryl, then you're on the right track.  This is my very first creation as a permanent Magnolia-licious DT member and what a great challenge to start with!  The challenge is to create something using stamp #375 Right Through My Heart.  This is not only my favorite image from Magnolia's Raising The Ceiling Collection, but it is also on sale for 30% off right HERE at Magnolia-licious, making it a measly $7.35.  How can you beat that!

To top if off, you can join in on the fun and there are some fabulous prizes!  Simply create something - a card or project - using the Right Through My Heart image.  Anything you like!  There will be a "Random Draw" to select a winner of two Magnolia stamps from Magnolia-licious AND there will be a GRAND Prize for the best entry.  This GRAND Prize is a secret...but it GONNA BE GOOD!!!  Submit your entry directly to Diana Crick at magnolia.us@shaw.ca.  Best of luck to you!  If you don't have your Right Through My Heart stamp yet, click HERE and get one ordered right away!  You can get more details at Magnolia-licious Highlites Challenge Blog.

I've decided to enter this project into the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - Touchy Feely
Magnolia Stamp Lovers - Scene
Papertake Weekly - Cutie
Stamp Something - Layers
Sir Stampalot Challenge - Fantasy
Timbroscrapmania Stamping Challenge - Distressing

And now for my project...

Princess of Thieves

Whenever I look at this image, I think of none other than Robin Hood.  When I think of Robin Hood, I think of bows, arrows, armor, all things medieval.  I wanted to do more than a card with this challenge and I wanted to use metal.  I decided to make a cookie jar to go along with it.  The toffee bars are from Morley Candy Makers and they're coated in chocolate and rolled in peanuts.  They are to die for!!!  I'm going to gain 5 lbs. from this project!

So, to begin, I found these awesome dp's by DCWV from their Once Upon A Time paper stack. The dark purple...the black...the gold...it just screamed 'medieval' to me. I backed the dp's with SU black cs.  I ripped up the dp edges and added a ton of gold Stickles to them, as well as to Tilda's bow. I cut the image with Nestabilities and framed it by hand with a gold paint pen while still in the die. The gorgeous metal embellishments were at the bottom of a container of embellies that I got in the clearance jewelry making bins at Michael's. The flowers are by Prima and the ribbon is just no-name craft ribbon.  This is actually a very simple card, simply embellished, but the dp's are so fantastic that the whole thing really pops.

I used the same papers, flowers and Stickles as with the card.  I painted the lid with Making Memories paint in eggplant and added gold bty craft ribbon to the edge.  The metal embellishment is new from Tim Holtz and the sentiment is simply handwritten.  I aged the sentiment a bit with watercolor and distress ink.

Here is an angled view just to show a little more dimension.

These two photos show a closeup of the metal embellishments used on the card.

I colored the image using mixed media.  Copic markers were used on the skin and hair.  I didn't keep track of all Copics as I have gotten really bad at that and I promise to do better in the future.  I don't have a formula for things like hair color.  I just grab markers based on the color chart and try them out.  But, for skin I almost always use E00, E02 and RV21.  Watercolor with Ranger distress inks were used on the rest of the image, as well as the background and freehanded flowers and grass.

Now that you have taken the time to peruse all of my photos, I have something special for you - BLOG CANDY!!!

I found myself with one extra copy of the fantabulous Magnolia Ink Midsummer Night's Dream magazine so I thought I would make it CANDY.  Everyone loves CANDY!

How can you enter the RANDOM drawing?
1.  Leave a comment on this post only before midnight EST April 30th and include your email address please.
2.  Put a link to this post with an image of the CANDY in the sidebar of your blog.  If you do not have a blog, you will still be entered, but please mention it in your comment.  And remember, I will be checking!!!

The winner will be selected using RANDOM.org on May 1st.  You can enter the drawing until midnight EST on April 30th.

Well, that is all I have for today.  I am so happy that you stopped by.  Please continue on to see Sharon's fabulous take on this challenge.

Ciao for now,
